I miss my time as a child when the only time that really mattered was knowing the street lights came on which indicated it was time to come home. We would play bike-tag or “ditch-em” or ride bikes or explore. Times are different now. School is more competitive, so the pressure children feel today around school is higher. You can connect and play video games anywhere and anytime. As parents, fear keeps our children indoors. We hear about stories of missing children and people harming children easily, thanks to our ease of information.
Scouting offers an opportunity to get back outdoors, explore, and be safe. In the workforce, we need people who can lead, think creatively “outside the box” to solve complex problems, and work together as a team.
