LDS Goals & Plans

Goals for each Stake, Ward, and LDS Scout Unit (Troop, Team, Crew)

  1. LDS-BSA-Belt-Buckle-sm-redHelp strengthen individuals and quorums by having quality time together and help them to make and strengthen quorum firendships outside of Sunday quorum meetings.
  2. Help each Leader get minimally trained (leader specific + outdoor)
  3. Help each Unit to get their Youth Leaders Trained (ILST, Varsity Vision, and Venturing Youth Training)
  4. Help each Unit have an Annual Plan, with Quarterly details, and weekly Agendas (and allow the Boys a greater opportunity to lead and work towards Independence) that help accomplish the Purposes of the Primary & Aaronic Priesthood.
  5. Help each Unit do Regular Youth Planning Meetings for each Quarter and create weekly agendas/plans as well as plans for Activities and Cooking on Outings.
  6. Provide a structure for New Leaders to pair up with experienced ones in each Stake (Junior/Senior Companion Pattern) as well as receive Coaching help and assistance from their Stake Unit Commissioners.
  7. Help each Unit perform Scout Planning Meeting (like Scouting Presidency Meetings)
  8. Help provide each Unit with Best Practices, Resources, and Coaching to help each Unit Succeed
  9. Help improve each Unit to adequately prepare each Young Man to become converted to the Gospel and be prepared testify with the power of God during their life and on their full-time Mission.
  10. Help each Young Man be better prepared for a life of service, leadership, and love for others
  11. Help each young man to seek & have personal spiritual experiences


We will accomplish this by:

  • Working with the LDS Commissioners in each Stake (Stake YM Presidency + High Councilors), as described in the LDS Handbook to provide Coaching for each Ward’s Scouting Units.
  • Facilitating Youth Training Development in each Stake (ILST, Varsity Vision, and Venturing Youth Training)
  • Providing an Annual LDS Young Men Leadership Conference (All YM and Scouting Leaders)
  • Help each Stake to have their own Scouting Open House / Annual Welcome Meeting / Annual Court of Honor
  • Helping to find Adult Training opportunities in our Council and surrounding Councils
  • Bi-Annual (Spring & Winter) LDS Roundtable, Varsity Huddle, Venturing Forums to share ideas and learn best practices and meet other LDS Scouting Leaders
  • Future Events (Varsity & Venturing Summer Beach Games Competition & BBQ) est. Summer 2017
  • Helping each young man to seek God and find spiritual experiences and how to find truth through the spirit
  • Help each young man to teach and testify of truth (which will have the spirit bear witness)
  • Help each young man to know who to receive personal revelation
