Merit Badge Days are a great way to discover lots of different subjects. These classes are usually taught by people with a passion and expertise in the subject they are teaching.
In Orange County Council, you can only work on 1 required Merit Badge. Most Merit Badges have pre-requisites, a majority of the work is done in class. It is recommended that the boy read through the Merit Badge Pamphlet before the class as well as bring a Blue Card, signed by the boy’s Scoutmaster.
Merit Badge Days, hosted by Boy Scout Troops, provide Scouts with an activity-filled day combining hands-on activities, question and answer sessions, and fun projects to help Scouts earn merit badges. Only Merit Badge Days approved by the Council Advancement Committee are posted here.Merit badges are offered at our facilities, which include: Newport Sea Base, Oso Lake, Schoepe Scout Reservation at Lost Valley and the Irvine Ranch Outdoor Education Center. Visit our council facilities’ websites to view merit badge course offerings.Registrations vary for each Merit Badge Day so be sure to download the flier by clicking the link to the right for complete information. Each Merit Badge Day requires that Scouts who attend fill out and provide the “Activity Consent Form and Approval by Parents or Legal Guardian” form upon arrival of the event. Please note: some troops will provide this form with their approved flier so submit as directed.
